ArbiGap Privacy Policy

Introduction

We value your privacy and are committed to protecting any data that might be handled by our ArbiGap extension. This policy explains our practices regarding data collection, usage, and protection in a clear and transparent manner.

ArbiGap is built to run entirely inside your own browser. It does not have a server, an account system, or a subscription of any kind. Its purpose is to fetch live, publicly available price data from cryptocurrency exchanges and display it side by side so you can compare prices and spreads across venues.

Information We Process (Not Collected, Not Transmitted About You)

When using the extension, we process:

Your watchlist, filter, and display settings — which assets, quote currencies, and exchanges you’ve chosen to track, your refresh interval, your highlight threshold, and similar preferences
A cached list of each exchange’s tradable symbols, refreshed automatically every 6 hours, so the extension doesn’t have to re-fetch it on every scan
A short list of which exchanges have recently appeared unreachable from your network (e.g. due to a regional restriction), so the extension can skip them until you choose to retry

Important Note: All of the above is processed and stored locally, inside your browser, using Chrome’s built-in storage API (chrome.storage.local). None of it is transmitted to us. ArbiGap does not operate any backend server, and there is no cloud sync feature to opt into. Your settings and preferences never leave your device.

Live price data itself — the bid/ask prices and spreads shown in the table — is fetched fresh on each refresh and displayed to you, but is not stored persistently; it is simply replaced on the next refresh.

Data We Fetch From Third-Party Exchanges (and What We Send Them)

ArbiGap’s core function requires making outbound requests to each cryptocurrency exchange’s own public, unauthenticated market-data API (for example, api.binance.com or api.kraken.com) in order to read live symbol lists and bid/ask prices. These are read-only requests for publicly available data that anyone can access — no account, login, or API key is used or required.

We do not attach any personal information, account details, or identifiers to these requests beyond what any ordinary web request inherently includes, such as your IP address being visible to the server you’re connecting to. This is a basic feature of how the internet works, common to any website or app your browser talks to, and is not something ArbiGap adds or uses for tracking. ArbiGap does not use this information for any purpose, does not log it, and has no server of its own to log it on.

Information We Collect on Our Servers

None. ArbiGap does not have a server. There is no account to create, no login, and no data of any kind sent to us or stored on our infrastructure. Nothing about your usage of this extension is visible to us at all.

What We Don’t Collect

We do not track which assets, exchanges, or spreads you view
We do not access any exchange account, credentials, or private trading data — ArbiGap only reads public market data and cannot place trades or access funds
We do not collect browsing history or viewing habits
We do not use analytics tools, tracking pixels, or advertising networks of any kind
We do not collect your name, email, or any personal or account information, because the extension has no account system to collect it through.

How We Use Information

We don’t. Because ArbiGap has no server and collects nothing about you, there is no information for us to use, analyze, or act on. All processing described in this policy happens locally on your own device (your settings) or is fetched directly from public exchange APIs and shown to you (live prices), for the sole purpose of displaying the price comparison you asked for and letting your preferences persist between sessions.

Permissions We Request and Their Usage

The extension requests the following permissions to function correctly:

sidePanel: To provide the persistent, resizable side panel where the price comparison table and results are shown. Unlike a popup, the side panel stays open while you browse other tabs, which is necessary here since prices refresh continuously.
storage: To save your watchlist, filters, and display settings locally on your device using chrome.storage.local, and to cache each exchange’s symbol list for up to 6 hours.
host_permissions: To fetch live symbol lists and bid/ask prices directly from each supported exchange’s own public REST API domain (e.g. api.binance.com, api.kraken.com, api.coinbase.com, and the equivalent domain for every other exchange ArbiGap supports). Each domain is used solely to read that exchange’s public, unauthenticated market data. No API key or account is used, and ArbiGap requests no other host permissions beyond these exchange API domains.

Data Protection

Because your settings stay on your device and we operate no server, the main protection ArbiGap offers is architectural: there is no account database to be exposed and no server-side store of your data to intercept. Specifically:

• No Server-Side Data: ArbiGap makes outbound requests only to public exchange market-data APIs to fetch prices for display – it does not transmit your settings, activity, or any personal data anywhere, because it has no server to send them to.
• No Third-Party Tracking: We do not use analytics tools, tracking pixels, or advertising networks.
• Local-Only Settings Storage: All settings and preferences are stored using Chrome’s own storage API, subject to Chrome’s own security model, on your device only.

Information Sharing

We do not, and cannot, share your information with anyone, because we never receive any information from the extension in the first place. There is no third party involved in ArbiGap’s operation on your behalf — no authentication provider, no payment processor, no analytics service, and no cloud sync provider.

Third-Party Services We Use

ArbiGap connects directly to the public market-data APIs of the cryptocurrency exchanges it supports (see the extension’s description for the full list) in order to fetch live prices – this is the extension’s entire purpose, and each connection is a read-only request for public data, governed by that exchange’s own terms and privacy practices for public API access. ArbiGap does not integrate with any account, authentication, payment, or analytics service of any kind. There is nothing to log into, subscribe to, or pay for within the extension itself.

Server Usage

ArbiGap does not use a backend server for any purpose. There is no user authentication, no subscription management, and no data storage outside your own browser and the public exchange APIs it reads from.

Your Rights and Choices

Since ArbiGap stores nothing about you outside your own device, most data-rights requests are already fully in your hands:

Access Your Data: All of your settings and filters are visible directly in the extension’s own interface, and can also be exported at any time as a JSON file.
Delete Your Data: Uninstalling the extension removes all locally stored settings and cached data from your browser. You can also reset filters and settings to default at any time from within the extension itself, without uninstalling.
Export Your Settings: Use the “Export Filters” option to download a copy of your watchlist, quote-currency, and exchange filters as a file; “Import Filters” loads one back in, both processed entirely on your device.
Opt-Out: Uninstall the extension at any time to stop all local data processing and all requests to exchange APIs.
Because there is no account or server involved, there is no request we could fulfill on your behalf that you can’t already do yourself, instantly, from within the extension.

Data Retention

Settings and Filters: Stored locally in your browser for as long as the extension remains installed, or until you reset them to default. Removed automatically when the extension is uninstalled.

Symbol Catalog Cache: Stored locally for up to 6 hours before being refreshed automatically, or immediately if you force-refresh it from Settings.

Live Price Data: Never stored beyond the current display – each refresh replaces the previous one, and nothing is retained afterward.

We do not retain any data on our end, because we do not collect any.

Children’s Privacy

Our service is not directed to children under 13 years of age. Since ArbiGap does not collect any personal information from any user, this applies equally regardless of age — there is no data collected from children or adults.

International Data Transfers

ArbiGap does not transmit any personal data anywhere, so there is no cross-border transfer of personal data to disclose. Requests to exchange APIs to fetch public price data may be routed internationally depending on where a given exchange’s servers are located, the same as visiting that exchange’s own website would involve.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in the extension’s features or legal requirements. Your continued use of the extension after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

Security Incidents

Because ArbiGap does not operate a server or store any user data outside your own device, there is no central store of user data that could be breached. In the unlikely event that a security issue is discovered in the extension itself, we will:

Address the issue promptly in an updated release
Describe the nature of the issue in the extension’s update notes
Recommend updating to the latest version as soon as it’s available.

Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)

For users in the European Economic Area: because ArbiGap collects no personal data and operates no server, there is no processing of your personal data by us that requires a legal basis under GDPR. Any local storage of your own settings on your own device is governed by Chrome’s own extension storage permissions, which you control directly and can revoke at any time by uninstalling the extension.

Consent

By installing and using the ArbiGap extension, you consent to:

The extension fetching public market data from third-party exchange APIs, solely to display prices for comparison
The local storage of your settings, filters, and symbol catalog cache using Chrome’s storage API
Since ArbiGap does not collect any data on our end, there is no server-side consent to withdraw — you remain in full control of everything the extension does simply by using or uninstalling it.

You can stop all local data processing at any time by:

Resetting your settings to default within the extension
Uninstalling the extension
Remember that you can uninstall the extension at any time if you no longer agree with these terms.
