TabLimit Pro Privacy Policy

/

Introduction

We value your privacy and are committed to protecting any data that might be handled by our TabLimit Pro extension. This policy explains our practices regarding data collection, usage, and protection when you use our tab management extension.

Information We Process (Not Collect)

When using the TabLimit Pro extension, we temporarily process:

  • Tab information including URLs, titles, and favicons
  • Tab metadata such as creation time, last accessed time, and window associations
  • User-configured settings like tab limits, site-specific rules, and behavior preferences
  • Website hostnames for whitelist and site-specific limit functionality
  • Tab hibernation states and memory usage statistics

Important Note: While we process this information to provide the extension’s functionality, we do not collect, store, or retain any of this data on our servers. All processing happens locally in your browser using Chrome’s storage APIs, and no data is transmitted to external servers.

How We Use the Information

The processed information is used solely for:

  • Monitoring tab counts against your configured limits
  • Implementing tab management behaviors (blocking, hibernation, auto-closing)
  • Applying site-specific rules and whitelist exemptions
  • Displaying tab statistics and usage analytics in the dashboard
  • Storing and synchronizing your extension preferences locally
  • Providing export/import functionality for settings backup

Permissions We Request and Their Usage

The TabLimit Pro extension requests the following permissions:

  • tabs: To monitor tab creation, updates, and removal for limit enforcement
  • storage: To store your preferences including tab limits, site rules, and behavior settings
  • activeTab: To access current tab information for proper limit calculation
  • scripting: To inject notification scripts for toast messages and alerts
  • windows: To implement window-specific tab limits and tracking
  • notifications: To display system notifications when tab limits are exceeded

Host Permissions

The extension requires:

  • Access to all URLs (<all_urls>) to monitor tab creation and apply site-specific rules across all websites you visit
  • This permission is necessary to extract hostnames for site-specific limits and whitelist functionality

Data Protection

We implement several measures to protect your privacy:

  1. No external data transmission – All data processing occurs locally in your browser
  2. Local storage only – Settings and preferences are stored using Chrome’s sync storage, never on our servers
  3. No user tracking – We do not implement any analytics, tracking pixels, or user identification systems
  4. No personal information collection – We never access, collect, or store personal information
  5. Minimal data processing – We only process the minimum tab information necessary for functionality
  6. Secure local processing – All tab management logic runs locally with no external dependencies

Information Sharing

We do not:

  • Collect any user data or browsing history
  • Share any information with third parties
  • Use any analytics, tracking tools, or external services
  • Store any personal information or browsing patterns
  • Transmit any data to external servers or services

Premium Features and ExtPay Integration

For premium feature access, we integrate with ExtPay, a third-party payment processor. ExtPay may collect payment-related information according to their own privacy policy. We do not receive or store any payment information – this is handled entirely by ExtPay’s secure systems.

Data Retention

Since we do not collect data on our servers:

  • All extension data is stored locally in your browser
  • Settings persist only as long as you keep the extension installed
  • Uninstalling the extension removes all locally stored data
  • No data backup or recovery is possible from our end since we don’t store user data

Changes to the Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. Any changes will be posted with the extension’s updates in the Chrome Web Store.

By installing and using the TabLimit Pro extension, you consent to the processing of information as described in this privacy policy. Remember that you can uninstall the extension at any time if you no longer agree with these terms. All locally stored data will be automatically removed upon uninstallation.
